Short Bio
Dr Charles John MacRobert Pr Eng, is a Senior Lecturer of Geotechnical Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at Stellenbosch University. His research interests lie predominantly in the characterisation and modelling of geomaterials for global stability and seepage assessments. A particular emphasis of his research is understanding the role of engineering judgement in dealing with epistemic uncertainty, which often abounds in practice due to limited resources. Charles also provides specialised consulting support to practicing engineers, both to carry out practice-oriented research and to confidently teach both the professional practice and art of engineering.
Research Interests
Dr Charles John MacRobert, received his BSc (Eng) from the University of Cape Town, and both his MSc (Eng) and PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand.
